Cataract procedures and what they can do for you have changed a lot in the last few years. We at Mt Tam Vision Center have had the pleasure to work closely with some of the top surgeons in the Bay Area as the new generations of Refractive Implants have become available. This has allowed us to offer more attractive options than ever before to achieve a glasses-free lifestyle. This sort of background makes Mt Tam Vision Center an excellent choice to be your Cataract coordinator.

If you have not recently had a comprehensive ocular exam, you should consider having one before the evaluation. There are several reasons for this. First, we want to make sure that the reduced vision is actually due to a cataract. Secondly, we want to rule out any physiological reason why you shouldn’t have a cataract procedure. The last thing we want is for you to have a perfect procedure and not see as well as you had hoped because of some other underlying condition.

Upon completion of your Free Premium IOL (Inter Ocular Lens) Evaluation, you will know that:
  • you are a good candidate for a cataract procedure
  • which of the myriad procedures and technologies is best for you
  • that you have reasonable expectations about what it can provide for you
  • which of the many Cataract surgeons available here in the bay area will best provide those things that you deem important. Most people want good value for money and an excellent surgeon. Those are a given from our perspective. Why individuals choose different providers is about as varied as people having a cataract procedure. Some people want the surgeon most involved in research or who has the most credentials. Others just want the best hand holding staff. We have worked with many of the surgeons so we can help you choose which one will be best for you. If you would like to tour the facilities or meet the surgeons, we would be happy to arrange that for you.
Once you have picked a cataract surgeon, the next step is that our staff will help you set up a convenient pre-op exam with the surgical staff. Last of all, Dr. Frank and the surgeon will review your needs and desires and finalize the game plan as to what is going to be done, what implants will best provide your visual needs, and a time frame for the procedure or procedures.

Upon successful completion of your procedure, our staff will set up appointments for your Post-Op care. Depending on whom you choose to do the cataract surgery, the surgeon will provide the first week or two of follow-up care. After that we usually see patients at one month, three months, and six months after the procedure. Of course if additional visits are required, those are included as part of the follow-up care. Most patients are now electing to add RevitalVision® to their Rehab program. Check out our article on RevitalVision®. We strongly advise you to do this, to maximize your return on the investment you have made with a cataract procedure. From this moment on through the entire process, we are at your disposal for any questions or concerns you may have.
